Not everyone can afford to buy a yacht, but one skilled carpenter showed that it was possible to build it with his own hands. He found blueprints, bought planks and started to assemble his dream boat in his backyard. After that he shared the process with everyone.

First, he modified a design he found on the Internet as decided to build a 36-feet-long yacht with a 5.5-ton displacement.

Although these parameters seem small, such a vessel is suitable for cruising across the sea. Sailors have crossed the Atlantic even on 23-feet-long yachts.

The construction started in a special boathouse consisting of wooden slats and polyethylene sheeting. The vessel was made of wood and reinforced with fiberglass lamination. The man used reliable materials that would not fail in the open sea. He bonded the planks for the boat's skin with epoxy resin, which increased its strength and protected it from corrosion.

He named his yacht Galaxy and spent about five years building her.

The yacht was the man's true passion, although no one he knew believed she would ever be launched. It took many years to complete the project, but eventually the homemade yacht was launched.

Part of the process was filmed on video to show that there is nothing impossible.

The result is spectacular: the yacht is fully certified and is no different from a vessel which could have been built at any shipyard for 10 times the amount spent by the man.
